US Military Personnel in Israel Found Secret Spyware on Their Phones

I assume that the facts that have been disclosed in recent weeks about Israel spying on USA had been known much earlier by the US military and counterintelligence, but they have been "leaked" now by those who are against the proposed greater integration between the US and Israeli military, which is now pushed in Congress.

These facts are not at all surprising or unexpected, as this has been the MO of Israel forever, and also, as another poster has already mentioned, this has also always been the MO of USA in the relationships with its "allies".

Only the legislators who support in Congress the proposal for integration feign being not aware that the interests of USA do not really align with those of another country enough to justify such a military integration.

How does this instillation happen?

Are they exploiting zero days to somehow force the phone to install an app unbeknownst to the user? Are they physically stealing the phone while the user is unaware, installing software, and then returning the phone?

I don't even know how spyware ends up installed on a modern phone without the users knowledge.

Were they surprised? Really? US also spies on everyone, including allies.
