I'm not sure what to make of this. I don't know if this is standard procedure for the US, or whether it's an escalation of the paranoia, rightly or wrongly.

Overall, I dislike the US' ability to strong-arm kinda any country into making decisions that are counter to their own interests whilst at the same time helping to maintaining the US hegemony, which will only work to make these kinds of actions more likely into the future.

I can totally understand the US using its power to do this, and why Chile would capitulate, but that doesn't mean I like any of it.

Realpolitik I guess.
