New method to minimize immunosuppression after organ transplantation

Doctors of the Oncology Department in the Hospital La Paz (Madrid, Spain) had developed a new method that reduces greatly the danger of organs transplanted in a patient being attacked and destroyed by his/her immune system

The immune system of the patient is trained to recognize the organs of the donor as if they belong to the body of the transplanted. The patient lives with two different immune systems that don't seem to clash.

This is a game changing for patients that now need to receive routinely immunosuppressants for the rest of their lives. Could even remove this need entirely in the future. Two patients, a kid and a woman were treated successfully.
