If you are an aspiring founder, any VC will ask you this question: “why are you the only person who could solve this”. If you want to generate passive income with your side idea, get ready to enter a crowded market as everyone and their mother is shipping. Unless you have an active X account or you’re a TikTok sensation distribution is going to be tough.

I just launched the trie.dev microphone beta to help folks find their edge. You yap into your phone about your ideas; Trie turns the rambling into hypotheses, then prioritizes them based on your experience and your realistic ability to distribute in that idea space — surfacing the problems only you can solve. From there you can generate creative and run Meta ads against your hypotheses straight from your phone, with zero setup, to see how real people respond.

I built it initially for myself and friends as an “intake form” for running paid ads to help validate our side gig ideas.

Happy to chat about how it works or the stack. Joining the waitlist will send you an email to join via TestFlight.

This is a pretty great idea. I actually do not need the “why are you the only person who could solve this”. I only need the "generate creative and run Meta ads against your hypotheses straight from your phone". I have a bunch of ideas id like to throw 40-100$ of ads against.

Stoked you feel this way Bob. Feel free to sign up for the beta and I’ll send you a link!

I am still in the early days, so happy to evolve it around the use cases that come up. For example, if you want to write your own hypotheses instead of dictating them.

- distribution is why you need free services offered by other founders of other startups who have experience doing this

- https://github.com/zupcode-com/awesome-free-services-for-you... I am going to post soon on HN with a full list of 50000 free services to build your next startup from scratch offered by real humans

Not directly related but I'm curious:

To all those who like voice dictation - are you extroverted?

I absolutely hate the sound of my voice, and the thought of speaking my ideas in a public setting and interrupting people gives me a deep sense of anxiety.

I feel like I'm missing out on something when I look at this.

I’m maybe somewhere in between personally … I started with voice dictation because we were trying to quickly capture those random ideas when you’re getting out of bed or just having stream of consciousness thoughts. I would normally write out hypotheses and problems myself but I tend to get in my own head wording them and it’s been helpful to have microphone connect the dots so I can just test my strongest ideas quickly. As far as speaking about ideas in public, I live in NYC so maybe less of a problem here ;)

Love the idea, was a bit disappointed it wasn't useable by Android/Web.
