I haven’t used gnome boxes in a few years, but last time i tried it was essentially an useless toy.

I wonder if they are at least trying to be as cool as the good old virt-manager or if they are going full gnome (that is, four buttons and two features).

They indeed totally lost their way. I think that a relative success was very bad to drive the ego of a few wannabe designers.

And since then, it is like selfish driven development and so I think that a lot of users like me moved away. Currently I use Cinnamon for years and couldn't be more happy.

The following sentence shows the problem: First, shifting to a Flatpak-first (and only) model. As a solo developer, maintaining code paths for countless distributions isn’t sustainable.

I understand the solo dev burden, but then it is amateur work. If you don't care to do serious and durable changes, just don't do it under the gnome brand umbrella...
