The Eminem Show (TES) was heavily bootlegged before it was officially released, and it would very likely have broken the Marshall Mathers LP (MMLP) sales record had the leaks not happened.

I also believe that TES is a better album than MMLP, while MMLP had more hardcore raps, TES was his most mature album, and had the best production of his career rivaled only by Relapse in my opinion.

It's crazy to me that square dance received less than a perfect rating. The production on that song is one of the best on the album and the way he rode the beat and leaves you nodding along with smoke coming out of your speakers. I mean, the way he rode the beat here -

__

Let your hair down to the track, yeah, kick on back

(Boo) the boogie monster of rap, yeah, the man's back

With a plan to ambush this Bush administration

Mush the Senate's face in, push this generation of kids

To stand and fight for the right to say something

You might not like, this white hot light

__

I had to stop myself from quoting the whole verse.

And then the way the beat drops when he says

__

Oh yeah, don't think I won't go there, go to Beirut and do a show there

__

And then he picks right back up and continues with the same flow!

Okay, giving Square Dance a 3.5 is something I could live with, but then to give Say Goodbye to Hollywood a 3.5! No way! When you call TES his most mature album, it's because of a song like this.

__

Cause everything that bothers me I got it bottled up

I think I'm bottoming out but I'm not about to give up

I gotta get up, thank god I got a little girl

__

Check out this break down of the song here [1]

I like Drips and I was hoping that the author would love it too. But after seeing them not like Say Goodbye to Hollywood and Square Dance, then what chance did Drips have? I like the song because it's Slim Shady being Slim Shady. It's no more out of place than Without Me was on the album.

And to see that the author gave Sing For the Moment a 3.5/5 when it was arguably the best song on the album. When people call TES Eminem's most mature and introspective work yet, they are referring to songs like this. If Sing For the Moment and Say Goodbye to Hollywood are not deserving of perfect ratings, then it means the album failed to achieve its goal. But it didn't fail!

That's why we sing for these kids who don't have a thing

Except for a dream and a fuckin' rap magazine (haha)

Who post pin-up pictures on they walls all day long

Idolize they favorite rappers and know all they songs

Or for anyone who's ever been through shit in they lives

So they sit and they cry at night, wishin' they'd die

Till they throw on a rap record and they sit and they vibe

__

I know we all have our opinions, but it's hard to agree with this review when Superman gets a perfect rating and the above songs didn't despite their lyrical depth.

And Hailie's song gets a 4?

__

I act like shit don't phase me, inside it drives me crazy. My insecurities could eat me aliveeeee

__

I actually dig it when he sings and then when he starts rapping, it elevates the song.

I agree with the rating of When the music stops. Not a fan of D12, they are shock-value artists without the lyrical skill to match.

My Dad's Gone crazy is a 4/5!

No way, I'm done here.
