soil additives for carbon fixing or enhancing ocean alkalinity are much more promising routes, as well as preserving peatlands

Yes, but, it has to be done, so we should just get started planting those trees. Keep working on the tech in parallel.

It's all well and good to switch to solar, but we also need to capture all the carbon already released.

We need to plant diverse native forests in fertile land today. If I could afford some land I would just start doing it myself.

They may need to be irrigated too so we might as well start building desalination infrastructure as well.

Farms may just have to be smaller and more efficient. We might have to start eating produce that has a tiny blemish or weird shape.

You don't need to own the land yourself, just contact the owner and organize permission for planting, tree sourcing, and labor. That's what https://www.forestunlimited.org/ does in Northern California.

I do wonder about the economics of CCS vs. investing more aggressively in wind and solar.

This is a big deal here in Alberta where the Oil companies are complaining about footing the bill for CCS. If instead of spending a few billion on CCS, how much CO2 reduction would we get if invested in solar and wind.

I hate this kind of site. After the first attempt at scrolling I realized what it was and left. It's low information and irritating to boot.
