BYD Launches the Denza Z9 GT EV in Europe and the UK at over 3X the Price

Why would anyone spend $150k on a car that sells for $40k elsewhere? You're not getting $90k more car. Not that I necessarily want to spend the extra markup for a luxury car but even for the major luxury brands, 85% of the sticker price is the cost of building that car.

The car look gorgeous on the outside, but the 3x pricing is a bummer. It went from affordable ($39k) to not an option ($126k-$140k). But I would probably not buy it anyway considering the big ass screen inside. I'd much prefer a dumbed down car with analog nobs and buttons.

That screen inside looks really out of place compared to all of the interior that is looking really nice and indeed luxurious.

"3x the price" means 3x the Chinese price.

Crucial missing context from the truncated headline!

Don't know why they keep comparing it to the Porsche Panamera (and the design obviously imitates the Porsche Panamera Sport Turismo)...

What sets the Panamera apart (even from other Porsche model) is how incredibly luxurious it is: the Panamera is, btw, built on the same platform as the Bentley Continental GT. Incredible soundproofing (which neither the Cayenne, nor the Macan, nor the 911 do have) and interior finishes of the highest quality (even if it shares parts with other Porsche models, the Panamera has an interior of higher quality and not just because of the better soundproofing).

That chinese knock-off, but in EV, looks good and the interior looks very nice. But you need to sit in one and test drive it to see if it's really of quality.

Soundproofing is a big one: a great many cars, for example, have a soundsystem that sounds good... In the showroom. You take the car on the highway, and it's all wind noise and rattling (looking at you, Volvo).

But then anyway 115 K EUR for a car that is going to spy on you and that can be remotely disabled by the CCP should the shit hit the fan is a pill quite hard to swallow.

It looks atrocious. Like someone glued the rear of an Alfa Romeo to a BYD SUV. And those side cameras instead of mirrors. And the price... there are so many interesting cars in this price range with better service and brand value.
