They should just drop support for Windows and let Microsoft develop something with similar functionality. If Microsoft doesn't, well, them's the breaks.

There is already Invoke-WebRequest. Powershell 5 infamously shipped with "curl" as an alias for it. So be careful what you wish for.

Isn't Invoke-WebRequest the one that makes it really hard to have an exit code != 0 if your request fails?

Since curl has minimal non-copyleft license, Microsoft can just use it as is.

However seems they lost capability to properly maintain anything, most obvious problems will be patched with AI crap at best.
