Do they have a proper thermal pad + heat sink for the drive? There’s no mention of it in the article.

They could have a faulty drive, or the controller could just be overheating.

The need for a heat sink on an NVMe drive typically goes like this:

PCIe 3.0: Rarely

PCIe 4.0: Usually

PCIe 5.0: Always
