Excluding his political views, is he crazy here though? Rails was never meant to be the "best" programming language. The whole point was being easy for humans.

Well, if you're already willing to sacrifice for ease of use, what niche does Rails really serve in 2026? I'm sure interest has absolutely dried up in the last 2 years and DHH is staring at an existential crisis.

Obviously it's easy to backseat drive on this stuff - but these aren't the words of a crazy person, they're the actions of a trapped animal.

Apparently now that his company development process went full slop (ehm, agentic, sorry!) they’re stopping using Rails and use Rust instead

I personally don’t think we had a problem at all taking things like Rails and making extremely valuable software with them.

Like, no sort of problem that requires going all-in on tokens to solve. No problem at all, really.

But people think I’m crazy to say that.

So I think it’s a shame that DHH went in so hard on agentic engineering. They didn’t need to do it, they already were printing money.

In a world where AI is writing all the code, why on earth would you use a language that was created for human happiness? You are simple leaving too much on the table by not using something like Rust or even C.

I'm not a C dev but I shipped something for fun quite easily. I know _enough_ to not ship bullshit.
