For some reason, uses of pronouns like in this headline baffle me. First "they" apparently relates to "Time Capsule", and the second to "Apple". Why would you write like this? Why make people struggle to understand?

I get so mad when an ebil corpo wants to stop supporting my 15 year old e-waste.

It's not e-waste if it works fine.

It’s e-waste the minute you buy it.

Yeah, I also get mad when someone takes a functioning piece of equipment and remotely turns it into e-waste, forcing me to buy a new one

Did you even read the article? It's basically a shitpost trying to frame macOS dropping support for AFS as "killing" Time Capsule (which was released 13 years ago).

When Linux dropped support for 486 did people rush out and complain about remote kill switches?

No, your Time Capsule (if you even have one, which I highly doubt) is not going to become e-waste. You don't have to upgrade macOS, and if you do, there are options to make it keep working.

have you ever tried to set up an smb share and use that as your time machine target?
