Netflix reportedly considering always-on channels and bundles, which is, cable

Looks like I am going to have some competition!

I think cable as an idea is fantastic, specifically because it has curated content. You can tell when a cable television channel went down the drain when their lineups either weren't consistent or started playing the same 4 things every day.

With genre based channels you can bring back a little of that monoculture we had and can share experiences with other people. Being able to watch things like the latest episode of stranger things debut at the same time in parallel with other people is just more fun that queueing it up randomly.

I have actually been working on this concept but focused on content creators at https://react.tv. It lets you use digital media to create a television channel. The hope is to offer this same kind of experience for creators without having to make a deal with a company like Netflix.

It will be worse than cable since my DVR has no unskippable commercial breaks.

But I love programming my own TV channels to get the best of both on-demand and programming-based viewing modes. ErsatzTV is great.
