I guess what I'm getting at is to say, it will take some time and work for Qualcomm to win me over as to seeing them as a trustworthy company that I would want to support. And I'm guessing I'm not alone in thinking that.
It's a confluence of two things. Qualcomm doing so much upstreaming is great! Even a bunch of their Adreno stuff has support, gets upstreamed! https://www.phoronix.com/news/Linux-7.3-MSM-DRM-Driver
But it's been well over half a decade where most bootloaders are locked, where we can't even try to run our own Linux on devices. With the Motorola and GrapheneOS partnership, we'll be seeing modern Qualcomm powered phones with unlocked bootloaders. So all this hard work? For the first time in a long time it has a chance to matter. https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=49360242
