AI generated page, no links to who created it, what they do, and somehow making it to HN front page.

There was a similar service that I participated in for a couple of years back in ~2019 that was free. I can't for the life of me remember the name of it right now though to check and see if it's still free.

Edit: Went through my LinkedIn connections to see when I connected with some people that I remembered from the service, turns out it was 2021 that I participated. Was able to cross reference the connection dates with my calendar and found it was Lunch Club (https://lunchclub.com). It looks like it was still free, but it also looks like it no longer functional though.

Yes I used Lunchclub as well with some good and bad connection.

The reason I mentioned pricing now is because of OP message: ` first paid cycle just went out`

For some reason on first read I thought this was solely for people who played the london system in chess.

I love the idea of getting out of the "office" (in my case work from home) to meet people for real eye contact, discussions without technology, etc. I went through my LinkedIn contacts a year ago and filtered to those in my city. From that list I contacted a couple of people each day in an effort to meet for coffee, lunch, or adult beverages. It was excellent to have good conversations without a phone or laptop in hand.

interesting idea, you should update the copy to have non-AI like writing though. It reads very AI generated atm.

Appreciate the honesty, I'll rewrite the landing copy today, it's clearly not landing right. Thanks for flagging

I’m blocked on the phone number registration step:

> Enter a valid UK mobile number (e.g. 07700 900123)

(I have only a Google Voice number from the US. I spend a lot of time in London, so feel like I should qualify for an account. )

Cool idea, Just a heads up, your google single sign on isn't very descriptive

> Grant permission to Platform [in progress]

> This will allow Platform [in progress] to see:

Good catch, that's a Google Cloud console config I hadn't finished, fixing now. Thanks for testing all the way through signup

Great idea! Would definitely sign up if I was living in London. Whats the verification process for sign ups btw?

If there are 10 people on a social network, are you allowed to call it "curated"?

Hey HN

Built this after a stretch of feeling oddly isolated despite being surrounded by people — the usual thing where everyone's busy, plans keep falling through, and it's easier to stay in than make the effort to meet someone new.

Pause matches you with one person a week — coffee, a skill swap, or a quiet cowork session — based on shared interests. No swiping, no group chats that go nowhere. You show up, we handle who and where.

It's live in London now, first paid cycle just went out. Feedback very welcome, especially on the matching logic — that's the part I'm least sure I've gotten right yet. Happy to answer anything about how it works or what's next.
