Physical pressure could make EV batteries last twice as long

It’s too bad it had to be a constant pressure and not just some pressure - hard to see how something like an iPhone could benefit from this. Maybe they could just squeeze to 12 bar and let it go up and down as it charges and discharges and gain some life.

Very cool finding. If it holds up even at a reduced factor when applied for to a whole pack, it could still result in a big improvement in cell life. That would make BESS more attractive and possibly the TCO of high milage applications like trucks.

I wonder if you even retrofit a battery storage installation with something around the pack to up the pressure and get a benefit.
