* We have an oracle that can answer any scientific question!

* Can I ask it a question?

* Don't be silly, only our high priests can.

* No problem, then I'm going to continue doing collaborative science without using the oracle.

* Don't bother, our high priests will scoop you as soon as we see there is interest in a question.

A strange framing, given that a gaming PC can now run models that absolutely crush frontier models from 18 months ago.

You can do whatever you want with those, and 2 years from now, you’ll be able to solve Millennium-type problems on your own hardware.

Why do we need Simon Willison's quoting of something Terence Tao said yesterday? Surely the original thread is more useful, unless HN has just become a place to spam his blog.
