this is not a new paradigm. this was apparent in the late 80s.

modulation of DNA / nucleosomal binding affinity, is a known epigenetic mechanism for the last 35 years.

DNA expressivity is not digital, its result of many affinity based interactions over time contributing to a summary result in the form of conformational change or rate of reaction.
