OpenAI shares they have made substantial progress on another Millennium problem

Quote from OpenAI in the NYT article: "In addition, since the completion of Navier-Stokes, we have made substantial progress on another Millennium Prize problem."

I don’t know how true it is, but there are a lot of rumors on social media that progress is being made on the BSD or Hodge conjecture. If this is true, it could set off a Millennium benchmark race and raise the bar significantly. Everyone would have to recalibrate their benchmarks around mathematical problems.

If there's a Millennium Prize problem race, I'm most excited for P=NP and the Yang-Mills existence and mass gap solutions. Knocking those off feels more world-changing.
