Reddit mods, like stack over flow mods of yore, ruin the things they touch. There is something about being an internet janny. Reddits weekly x threads are useless, it doesnt map with the way reddit is used. So they also become a total ban. A programming sub banning code, is some kind of hilarity. Theyll have drama posts now, and thats it?

On the other hand, the proliferation of shovelware Show HNs is a problem. Now that anyone can "create" a project and that project is so much less likely to have any quality or still be active and maintained in 3 months, they're not worth the same level of attention. And they're usually from spammers with little to no activity here other than self promotion.

Seems like content curation is becoming an increasingly important problems in online communities. Eventually a new equilibrium will be found, I'm wondering what it will look like.
